If you are using Activ as your main file repository, then it is likely that you or your users will need to update the contents of the files that have been stored within your system – for example to correct an error, add additional information, or replace out-of-date information. To support this, Activ provides two methods of editing files:
- Download, Edit, Re-upload – available for all file types and all users who have edit rights to the file. See Download a File and Upload a New Version of a File for guidance on how to use this method.
- *Live Editing – available for Microsoft Office files and Edit/Admin users who have the appropriate MS application installed on their current device. See the Live Editing section of this guide for guidance on how to use this method.
The precise method that ‘should’ be used will largely depend on the type of file that is to be updated (i.e. whether it is compatible with Live Editing) and your personal preferences. You can find detailed guidance on each method by following the links displayed above.
*Note that Live Editing may have been disabled for your system, at your company or reseller’s request. If this is the case, all files within your system will need to be updated using the Download, Edit, Re-upload methodology.
