If your package includes the Improvement Logs module, the Incident Log module’s functionality is extended to allow you to raise new Improvement Logs against your Incidents, and to link existing Improvement Logs to Incident Logs. This feature allows you to identify and manage any improvements that may be required to lower the chances of an Incident re-occurring, mitigate any remaining risks, and/or enhance your company’s response to similar Incidents.
For convenience, this article is split into two sections:
- Raise a new Improvement Log from an Incident Log
- Link an existing Improvement Log to an Incident Log

Raise a New Improvement Log from an Incident Log
To create a new Improvement Log from an Incident Log, open the Incident Log and click on its Improvement Logs tab. You will be presented with a dedicated Improvement Logs area, which is used to view and manage any Improvement Logs that are currently linked to the Incident Log. Click on the New Improvement Log button at the bottom of the screen.
A new Add Improvement Log form will open for you to populate. Most fields within the form will be blank, but for convenience the Details Including Containment Action field will be pre-populated with the information from the Incident Log’s Incident Description, and its Investigation Results/Root Cause Identified field will be pre-filled with the information from the Incident Log’s Investigation Results.
Enter (or modify) the Improvement Log’s details as appropriate, (see Create an Improvement Log for guidance), and then click Save.
You will be returned to the new Improvement Log’s record, and the Improvement Log will be displayed within the Incident Log’s register.

You will be presented with a popup displaying the Improvement Logs that are currently recorded in your system. Use the tick boxes to select the Improvement Logs that should be linked to the Incident Log, and then click Save.
You will be returned to the Incident Log’s Improvement Logs tab, and the linked Improvement Log will be displayed within the area’s register.
